Many are wondering, “How old is Kate Middleton, the future Queen of England?” She is the youngest serving princess in all of Europe and, at this time, she is officially an adult. The question is not so much of how old she is, but rather what age she will become when the time comes for her to become a royal member of the British Royal family. While we can expect to see plenty more of Kate in her many roles (her first major role coming out next year in the romantic comedy “The Rose”), one has to wonder at what age she might become eligible to become pregnant with her partner, Prince William.
Although it is entirely too early to make such speculation, there are certain facts of record that may help those speculating about the possible dates for Kate’s royal wedding. Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is an active member of the British royalty. Her current husband, Prince William, is second in line to the British throne, meaning that he also has the right of being the next in line for the British throne should anything occur between now and the death of the current king, 20 years from now. This does not necessarily mean that the two will marry during this timeframe, but it does raise the possibility of it happening. William is thirty-one years old at the time of this writing, so this could very well be his final royal marriage.
It would be fair to say that the exact age at which Kate will become a royal spouse would be closer to seventy than the current age of sixty-three. There have been rumors that Princess Diana was pregnant when she became a crown princess, but whether or not this pregnancy came as a surprise to her own parents, or to her husband (and later, the new king), is unclear. If there were any signs of pregnancy, it could very well have been announced long before the engagement. Some people speculate that it was announced much earlier on the eve of the engagement, so that any news that came out with regard to Kate’s pregnancy, whether it was positive or negative, would be announced immediately. There are also strong indications that Princess Diana did inform her family about her pregnancy, which could very well have been the catalyst for Kate’s royal marriage.
