What is the difference between fashion and style? It is difficult to draw a clear line between these two terms as both imply an artistic approach, when really it is not. When we talk of fashion we are actually talking about the practicality of what is worn, in the sense of covering up the body and creating the visual illusion of a slim body. On the other hand, when we speak of a style we refer to the aesthetic appeal created by certain clothing items. The difference between fashion and style can also be seen in the products that are produced for these two purposes.

The production of fashion related articles or publications has come under fire from critics within the past few years because of the increasing commercialization of such publications. This change in the manner that fashion magazines were published made it seem like a purely commercial enterprise that was trying to cash in on fashionable trends. These fashion magazines are mainly targeted at teenage girls and women and therefore had a huge advertising budget to attract the attention of this age group. What has been widely appreciated by many people is the fact that fashion magazines have always given equal time to all aspects of women’s lives. Fashion as a whole is not appreciated as much by the general public as it is by many women who appreciate fashion magazines for their coverage of particular trends in clothes, shoes, cosmetics, accessories, home accessories and many other items.

The question “What is the difference between fashion and style?” still remains as a mystery for many people, but what is clear is that there is considerable room for confusion in this regard, which is rather understandable given the commercialization of fashion magazines. In order to understand what is the difference between fashion and style, we should try and understand fashion as an art more than a simple mechanical process that involves cutting and sewing and only uses certain materials and colors. The process of fashioning actually tries to beautify women by suggesting to them that they should be modest, graceful and modest, but at the same time it does not exclude them from possessing a certain sense of style that is inherent in all of us.
