Fitted Hats – Fashion or Health?

Fitted hats have become increasingly popular in the UK over the last few years and this growth is set to continue. The main reason for the popularity of these hats is simple to understand; they look great, but they are also extremely practical. These hats are designed specifically to mould to the shape of your head thus ensuring that they sit level to your eyebrows and do not slip down. This helps reduce the amount of hair that ends up on your face or in your eyes when you go to brush your hair. Also, if you are unfortunate enough to suffer from bangs then these hats are perfect because they will ensure that you do not see them.

So why have they become so fashionable? There are several theories surrounding this question but one of the most common ones is that fashion has dictated that a hat should appear like it fits perfectly with the rest of your outfit. However, this is not always easy to achieve and many of us have spent hundreds of pounds on less than perfect hair-dos before finally settling for something that flatters our facial shape. With a style as fickle as fashion it is hardly surprising that we can finally say that fitted hats are back in fashion.

But fashion is not the only reason that we are seeing hats on high street shops. Perhaps it is the increased health awareness of consumers who realise that the hats that they wear can actually help protect their head from the elements such as wind and rain, which can lead to damage. Or perhaps it is just that we have all become more aware of the damage that we have inflicted on our hair by using damaging chemicals such as blow-drying, straightening and curling. Whatever the reason, it seems that these hats have arrived at the right time in the fashion world.
