Irene Lara is an accomplished athlete, with a professional degree in exercise science, but, did you know that Irene was once an abused victim of domestic violence. It took her many attempts to find legal recourse against the man who abused her, before she was finally able to file charges and move forward with pursuing a career in public service. As a tribute to Irene’s tenacity in the face of adversity, we at VOIPWAY are proud to feature her recent book titled: “Me, Myself and Irene.” This candid, moving memoir details her personal journey towards healing and successful marriage counseling.

Irene’s story is an intriguing example of how, through adversity, one can reclaim true freedom. Her story is an example of what not to do when you are seeking out a Counselor for your Marriage. Should you be looking for an easy way out from your marriage problems? The simple answer would be no, yet, countless marriage retreats are being offered all across the country to cater to the newlywed couple’s desire for a quick, easy fix to their marriage problems.

In her book, Irene shares that as a young woman she was repeatedly molested by her stepfather. She was eleven years old at the time and only recently began to understand how much her abuse of her was affecting her life and future. Since that time, Irene has sought to gain an understanding of her past circumstances, and to better educate others about domestic violence. Through her own experiences and research, Irene has become an outspoken advocate for ending violence against women and children and has been a key voice encouraging victims of domestic violence to speak out.
