Lara Vychuzhanina is a young artist from Russia. She has been working in the painting and sculpture industry for many years but has found herself increasingly drawn to Russian culture and the works of artists that are inspired by Russian art and culture. Her recent solo exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London showcased her work focusing on the theme of repetition within nature. The exhibition included works from prominent Russian artists including Semyon Varishin, Vasili Khvorov and Vasili Oschepkovsky. This was part of the Russian State Museum of Fine Arts, where she displayed solo paintings from a personal collection.

As we know, Russia is presently considered one of the majority ethnic Russian countries. However, the term Russian does not always refer to this country’s population as it is also widely used by Russian-speaking people all over the world. For example, many people who use the term Russian do not actually know what Russian means as it is not commonly used as a nationality in Russia. In fact, there are three major nationalities in Russia today: Russian, Belorussian and Georgian.

It is interesting to note that Lara Vychuzhanina is a woman of exceptional talent whose greatest strength appears to be in her facial paintings. Her talent lies in her ability to create highly detailed and complex portraits from a simple, basic pose. We can only guess at how her work will develop in the future but her already captivating and provocative facial expressions have already earned her the admiration of a number of contemporary artists. In terms of her profession, Vychuzhanina has a number of professional achievements. She has been awarded the Order of Friendship of Kazan Pictures, the Order of Service with Gold Device and the Order of the Golden Eagle of Ulyangbong National University.
