Duterte’s Cabinet is the most far-reaching and well positioned on a regional scale.
Duterte was elected for a 13-month stint as Davao City mayor.
From November 2014 to September 2015 he was president of the nation, and was nominated as its leader by the constitution’s Article IV, clause 12.
While his term is now up he will not remain in that position for more than a year, after which he will be nominated by a special commission for another term.
However, it remains to be seen whether Duterte intends to relinquish his seat, which the Senate already gave him on September 28 and he now holds by 753 votes out of 744, as part of a “judicial” appointment.
