Lisa Hanawalt was born in Southern California. At an early age, she was inspired by her mom’s paintings, which included many beautiful women. She would also draw inspiration from the magazines she’d look at, such as Vogue and Vanity Fair. When she was young, her favorite actresses were Gene Wilder and Joan Collins.
Lisa Hanawalt has been published three times in the comics industry – DC Vertigo, Batman: Gotham Central, and Wonder Woman. Her illustrations have won numerous awards, including the Harvey Awards and Carnegie Hall’s New Ideas Festival. As an artist, she has created characters for television, feature films, children’s books, video games, video discs, and numerous others.
It is clear that Hanawalt has an exceptional talent for expressing emotions in a realistic way, and this is definitely a skill that will serve her well throughout her career.
