Why Are Fashion Trends Repeating Yourself?

As I am always a bit tongue-and-cheek when it comes to my opinions, sometimes I get a bit frustrated with people who can’t see through the smoke and mirrors created by fashion trends. Fashion trends are like anything else – they start in one place and then the “it” trend moves to the next town, state or even across the country! The “it” trend usually has a recognizable face – like a certain handbag or shoe, or a particular dress that is in style right now. Fashion trends can take on many faces as they change from season to season but they have a tendency of sticking around. For instance, a few years ago the “sexy, hipster” look was all the rage, but this fad seemed to be fading quickly as people began to realize that it simply didn’t make anyone feel good. But what I can’t figure out is why fashion trends keep repeating themselves.

Well, it turns out that I’m not alone in this dilemma. There are actually many people who have theories about why fashion trends keep appearing in the same places and over the same types of clothing over again, but they just can’t figure out what causes such repeated fashion trends. Fashion trends are a mystery to most people because they’re too busy trying to figure out how they fit into their wardrobe to pay attention to whether or not what they’re wearing looks good on them. Fashion trends are so very frustrating because although some of the fashions may be in fashion for one season, the next you’ll see them all over again in many different venues!

One theory I have on why fashion trends repeat themselves is that designers and manufacturers are trying to get a rising brand of the same product, item or style into the marketplace as fast as possible so that they can move up the ladder in the business. This theory would explain why designer outfits are popular in one era and popular again in another and why many fashion accessories appear in more than one trend. Another reason why fashion trends repeat themselves is that designers are trying to get their creations into the mainstream market as quickly as possible so that they can cash in big time with new fashion lines. Some designers will take their trends as far as to having fashion shows where their designs will be seen by the masses! Once again, it really makes one wonder just how they can get their ideas across to so many people so fast!
