The Cat in the Hat first appeared in a children’s book published in 1957 by Theodor Geisel, with the pen name Dr. Seuss, using the codename Dr. Seuss Geisel. In this charming children’s story, the cat is an anthropomorphic cat wearing a bright red hat and a striped, white-and-red bow tie. The story goes that he is a friend and assistant to a human named Fiddleford Fluff. Fiddleford fluffs is a poor cat who lives in a dirty house, where a large, fake fiddle horn used to entertain visitors crashes one night, frightening Fluff who runs away from home.

After searching everywhere for her own tail, Fluffy winds up in the sewers of Manhattan, where she meets Cat, who takes care of her for the next three years. After a while, Fluffy gets tired of the Cat, so she decides to give up her quest and leave town. But before leaving, Cat spots another beautiful cat who also has a feline friend named Miss Fame. Cat and Miss Fame spend every day sitting together in front of the window, watching all of the cars pass by. Eventually, they get bored with just watching cars and decide to make a trip to the big city so they can meet the other Cats in the Hat.
