Paola Longoria is a seven-year National All-Star. She is a three-time International Racquetball Federation (IRF) World Champion in the women’s singles division, tied with Cheryl Gudinas and Michele Smith for the most all-time World singles titles by a woman. A few years before retiring from professional tennis, Longoria made an intriguing decision to sign with WWE, but why?
According to Janna Bedlam, VP of talent and performance at WWE, it was because Longoria is “a really good friend”. She is also open to working as a commentator on WWE Raw and working behind the scenes in the company. Longoria has a background in martial arts, which has allowed her to be able to transition from being a world-class athlete to being an inside the squared circle commentator. Being able to do both is a big plus for WWE. She is athletic and can use her size and strength to her advantage as a commentator.
However, WWE liked what they saw about Paolo Longoria as a person and did not view her as a partner for the remainder of her WWE career. In recent times, however, Longoria has been seen out with the girls, dancing and dating. Could this be a hint at a move towards a wrestling career for Longoria? Time will tell. As long as WWE sees fit to have Longoria in a commentary role, she will be welcomed back as a partner to Summer entering the WWE household.
