Teko socks are sold under the name of a company that specializes in socks, but they are actually part of the larger clothing company, Teko. The name Teko is taken from a Japanese word that means luck in addition to the fact that the brand is made from natural fibers such as cotton. Teko is a division of clothing manufacturer and retailer Hanes Inc. The founder of Teko is Richard W. Heiden, and the company was started in 1978 by his wife, Ellen M. Heiden. They are based in California.

Recently, Teko Socks was named one of People Magazine’s best sellers for kids’ shoes and socks and was listed in the same category as such fashion designers Asics and Dolce & Gabbana. Heiden’s company, Teko, also released a new line of sports, high performance outdoor and everyday socks with an emphasis on comfort. In February 2021, Teko first launched teko socks to the public.

While there is no specific scientific evidence to support the claim that two socks help reduce lactic acid when worn, there have been some studies made by independent researchers who have concluded that wearing two socks can reduce the amount of stress a runner feels when hiking or running. The amount of stress felt by runners and other athletes is said to be related to the amount of force with which the foot strikes the ground. Wearing a thicker, more supportive sock reduces the amount of force with which the foot hits the ground, thereby reducing the amount of perceived exertion upon the body. A study conducted by Ohio University concluded that the addition of a teen sock to a runner’s workout regimen produced significant improvements in time-trial performance among overweight/obese college students, suggesting that the sock may promote weight loss.
