Cynthia Frank was a famous and controversial height and gender altering beauty queen who won the very first American Idol contest in 1996. However, her career quickly soured when she was arrested and convicted of stealing government property. She served two years in prison and after her release, she moved back to California where she opened a hair salon. The salon was very successful, however as she was never caught again and began a reign of almost forty years on the show.

After her brief stint on the show, Cynthia Frank retired to a Florida resort for good. However in 2021, Frank was diagnosed with breast cancer and although she passed away, her fans had a sense of hope as her spirit lives on in the New York City independent film community where she was once a well-known community fixture. Her passing brought with it, a sense of familiarity among her many fans. This is because her popularity stemmed not from her beauty or nationality but from her boldness in accepting her Nationality.

In an interesting turn of events, Frank maintained her appearance while in an ongoing battle with breast cancer. After her death, her fans began to believe that Frank may have been saved due to her Nationality. The plot of the movie “Queen of Hearts” revolves around an adulterous married man with a Nationality. Although her name is never mentioned in the movie itself, some have assumed that the character of Mrs. Fisher (Lori Singer) is meant to be Mrs. Frank, the mother of a boy who was born while her son was incarcerated in a concentration camp. Frank’s Nationality may have saved her from certain suffering when it was discovered that she was not actually Jewish.
