A trucker hat, half-logger hat or cap, mesh hat or wool cap is often a kind of flat baseball cap. It can also be called a “feed cap” or “gimme cap” since this fashion came about during the 1960’s as an advertising give-away from U.S. based farm or feed supply companies. Today, this kind of hat is usually sported by truckers, trucker hats are really the most common kinds of hats seen truckers and in actual fact almost all truckers to wear them. These caps have come a long way since their origin and you will see them being used by many kinds of people. From military men to fast food restaurant workers and even cartoon characters, trucker hats has made its way on to the fashion scene.

As mentioned earlier, trucker hats were originally made out of flat cotton hats with plastic mesh backing that was ventilated on all sides. They were also square or rectangular in shape. Nowadays, you will find that they come in various shapes, colors and brands to suit every taste and preference that there is. There are even ones that are custom made to add a personal touch to your overall trucker look.

You will find that these hats are available in different materials such as wool, polyester and cotton among others. The most common types are the wool trucker hats that are usually flat on one side but have a slit on the other. Another type is the polyester hats which usually come with some sort of stiff foam at the crown. Yet another kind are the cotton trucker hats, which, although very light, still provide a good amount of ventilation on the sides. These are mostly used by truckers in colder climates and regions where it’s hard to find baseball caps.
