Tian Lan, the manager of the store, said that she found the girl unresponsive about 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The girl didn’t respond as police approached, he said, before one of the officers placed her inside the store’s freezer.

According to the police report, the girl was dehydrated and suffering from “severely” dehydration. The police report added that a woman who is at a nearby nursing home had left the building and she couldn’t be reached for comment.

The report stated the store’s employees, who were reportedly trying to resuscitate her, “immediately placed her in a secure area which included a freezer.”

The young girl, whose name was not released, was rushed to a hospital for treatment, police said.

Police also said Monday night that they were still not certain what prompted the girls to run from the store. Investigators were attempting to piece together clues.

“We don’t know whether or not the two girls run down the hill to the backside of the store to confront the employee,” Officer Li said.

According to the store’s owner, Li Hai Tian, the two girls took the steps to the back of the store when they saw police on the second floor.

Tian Lan, 34, said her daughter would have suffered from hypothermia if she never got inside.

“The girl would’ve been cold to the touch without a blanket,” the store manager said.

The store’s Facebook page, which is still up, is full of photos of people celebrating as their children turned three and five years old, along with the message, “Welcome to your new life!”

The store posted on Facebook that the entire store has been placed under surveillance in an effort to catch her.

Tian Lan told The New York Post that Tian Lan’s daughter was not the only girl to run into problems.

“This isn’t the first time my children have fallen in the past,” she wrote.

Tian Lan did not know the nature of the store’s troubles until she read it online, but she said the staff had never been involved in any trouble.

“This is a company that was trying to be good to me and my little girl,” she said. “I had never felt that.”
