Antonella Aservi is a young woman who works as a teacher in a Roman Catholic School in Genoa, Italy. She has been married to Piero since 1980 and was previously engaged in a profession as a physiotherapist. However, when the recession hit the economy, she left her job without telling her husband about her decision. In spite of this, her husband found out about this fact only when they were talking one night about their marital problems. After many months of tensions and fights, Antonella finally decided to end their marriage and move on with her life.

Antonella was born in La Spezia di Maggoires, an area in the Friuli Mountains of northeastern Italy. The family came from Oviedo and she had always been proud of her Veneto birth place. It is interesting to note that Antonella’s parents were not Italian, as is commonly believed. Her biological father was a Spanish national whose citizenship was revoked by the Italian government when he traveled to Argentina to get a job. Consequently, Antonella was legally adopted by Piero and became a Veneto Italian by natural right.

On arriving in Genoa, Antonella Asercchi worked in a number of different institutions, including an orphanage for intellectually disabled children. It is possible that her professional interests may have been sparked by a love of animals, which led her to an area in which she could serve as an instructor at the school. There is also some indication that she may have considered a career as a physiotherapist, but it is more likely that it was a later thought and that she settled down with her husband. It is not clear whether she was successful in gaining a position in this field, but she did have several years of experience in an environment which can be seen in many city schools and universities. If Antonella Asercchi was working as an educator in Genoa, then she has achieved almost universal praise for her resilience and commitment to her chosen profession.
