Yasmin Elzomor is a Nationality and an actress in the popular TV show, The Mindy Project. She has appeared in a number of films and TV shows both in her native Turkey and the United States of America as well. She is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s drama department and was recently in talks to adapt a script she wrote for another high school science project. For those not familiar with her work, she is best known for playing the young Miri Rufus in the hit TV series, Oranges and Lemons. As a young woman, she also appeared in a number of episodes of Law & Order: SVU, and the short lived spin off, Dead Girl.
Yasmin Elzomor hails from Yuseppe Sayin’s novel, Gekleh Kaya. Although her name is familiar to the public, it is not clear whether she is of Turkish or Iranian decent. It is possible that she was born in Europe, but whatever country or locality, her name is linked with fame and honors all over the world. Her birth certificate lists her as Yuseppe Sayin, and her passport picture shows her with a thick, dark, curly hair cut, which is not typical of an actress of her caliber, nor does she have an Arabic name, nor is there any reference to her nationality. This leads some to suspect that her real name is Huseymet C. Elzamic, but this is yet to be confirmed.
There is a possibility that she is of Turkish descent, as her middle name, C.A., sounds very much like the Turkish word, “Ciy”, which translates as “country”. However, there is also a possibility that she is of Iranian nationality, in which case, her middle name, H.Z. would make more sense. Whatever her true nationality, it is known that her native tongue is Arabic, and she was therefore raised and grew up learning it under the rules of her home country, and not in the more secular European culture of Hollywood, where one normally grows up speaking only their mother tongue.
