The Nationality Issue

The diminutive yet tantalizing Russian beauty Sofia Kapkova is the latest name to join the ever expanding Russian list of famous and eligible singles. She has shot to fame not only by her beauty but also her interesting career in which she has mostly acted in rather non-related shows. With an average height of neither more than 5 feet, a sizzling physique and a rather chiseled physique, her appeal to both men and women can be gauged from the fact that no man has thus far refused her proposal to marry him. So it is with Bulgaria’s Nationality, Marko Mihailovich, the former heir apparent to Nicholas II, her husband of the late Bulgarian Orthodox Archpriest Dimitrios Kolokantourides, who remains the country’s preeminent political and military leader.

But Sofia Kapkova’s path to stardom was not an easy one. Growing up in the cracks and crevices of post-communist Bulgaria amid a climate of anti-leftist sentiment and rejection of the western culture and values instilled by the former communist regime, she developed an early and profound distaste for western civilization. She was, at the same time, a devoted follower of the radical socio-cultural movement in her home country which she came to realize was a facade and a sham for a belatedly realized nation. But in her pursuit to find acceptance and love in her adopted country, she has been willing to do so even of the most seemingly radical causes. She is the perfect example of the ability to adapt to a new culture, while keeping the spirit of the past.

And so it is with Bulgaria’s Nationality, Marko Mihailovich, the self confessed Orthodox Christian whose conviction that the reunification of the nation should follow the principles of theories has met with mounting opposition. The former Bulgaria leader and current PM, GERBIL ARMAND, seem to be siding more on a tolerant approach, but Mr. Mihailovich continues to insist on a form of fundamentalism, which would essentially dictate that Bulgaria has become a theocracy under the Orthodox Church. Whether or not this will be acceptable to his party colleagues remains to be seen. What is for certain is that the growing conflict between the two parties offers so much opportunity for Sofia Kapkova.
