Maria Borovskaya is a famous Russian writer and one of the most famous Russian women as well. Born in Ukraine, she is the fifth of six children of Bogmachevsky, a captain in the Red Army. She was often scolded for her great height (5′ 7″), but she never considered being short. As a matter of fact, when her family immigrated to America, they put her in an orphanage, which changed her mind.
After that experience, she went to study medicine and became a specialist in orthopedics. In 1950, she began writing articles on physiology and human growth and got a job as a researcher in the Institute of Biomedical Problems in Moscow. After that, she began writing screenplays and decided to write a novel based on them. After finishing a book entitled The Tallest Woman in Moscow, she decided to write a feature-length documentary film, which was completed in 1960. It focused on the story of Yuliya Romanova, who was an extremely tall and thin lady who posed as a human model for the movie.
Maria Borovskaya has enjoyed a great and successful career as a writer, photographer, television producer, and director. She married Dimitri Voloshin, a former leader of the State University ofNikolsky Ural region, and they have two daughters. She has lived in several countries and has always embraced the universal values of honesty and trustworthiness.
