Juliana Casagrande is a renowned artist, writer, and painter. Her paintings feature exotic scenes from the Andes Mountains and other natural settings, but her most famous work is a series of seven watercolors that she produced between 1930 and 1963. Her career spanned nearly a half of a century, during which she traveled the world to explore the many cultures and scenes that influenced her art. She was born in Peru, and although her family speaks Spanish, she never took the time to learn the language. When she was an adult, she decided that it was important to learn how to speak the language so that she could better write her beautiful artwork, and that is exactly what she did.
Growing up in Peru as a child, Casagrande could hardly wait to leave home to pursue her painting career, but when her uncle died in a plane crash, she had to change her mind. Instead of pursuing her dream of traveling abroad, however, she decided that she would rather remain in Peru where she enjoyed her work most and meet the people who inspired her most. Growing up in Peru as a child meant that she always felt part of the Peruvian culture, and that was something that she would carry with her throughout her life. This is one of the main reasons that she decided to turn her attention to the subject of art as she grew older, and it is evident in some of the subjects that she depicts here.
While it may not seem like an important part of her life or career at first glance, Casagrande’s interest in height is clearly visible in her artwork. Her popular painting entitled Promenade shows her standing next to a large and impressive height in the center of the canvas. The look on her face as she stands there just gives the viewer a good idea of what the scene is like that she is standing in. From the vibrant colors that are mixed into the background to the large and impressive presence that she exudes, it is apparent that Casagrande has a great deal of respect for her clients’ heights.
