Angelica Velez is known as a Nationality singer because of the unique voice that comes out of her mouth. Born insular del Medero, Colombia, Angelica Velez was given this name because of her large size at birth. At the age of seven her parents took her to the United States under the assumption that they were taking her to Europe to get an education. When her parents learned that Angelica was going to stay in Colombia they decided that she should change her name since she had been called Angelica all her life and it was the local dialect that was used at that time.
Angelica began playing basketball at the age of thirteen, playing on a team with other girls from the streets of her hometown. She soon became known as one of the best rebounders and scorers in the school as well as one of the hardest workers on the team. Aged nineteen, she was approached by the University of Florida in order to play tennis. In the beginning she was very unsure about playing tennis but was great at it, winning many matches and breaking many bones. In the beginning of her career at the University of Florida she was known for hitting the ball really hard off the court but at the same time this didn’t help her score so much.
After graduating from the University of Florida she joined forces with some other great players such as Kriss Younger, Kriss Chyna and Yekola. During this period in her career as a professional she managed to win twenty-five games in a row, the only player to accomplish this feat in the history of the American university. After leaving the university she signed a contract to play for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA. In twelve seasons with the Hawks she won three championships and also reached six finals appearances, earning four US National Team titles. After retirement Angelica has pursued her passion and has become a world renowned fitness trainer and motivational speaker.
