The Bauhaus fashion trend is an extremely stylish and popular style of clothing which combines modern elements with traditional ones. Known as the “The Cathedral of Fashion”, the Bauhaus style is named after the church where the style was born – Basel, Switzerland in the early nineteenth century. This style takes it’s influence from the more traditional European styles of clothing such as those of the Baroque and Elegant periods. It combines elements of haute couture and classic fashion and has become extremely fashionable amongst people of all ages and backgrounds.
The Bauhaus style combines elements of both classic and modern fashion and this, in turn, creates a highly stylish piece of clothing. One of the most popular elements of the Bauhaus fashion trend is the use of bright colours. These colours are stark and strong and often represent strong geometric shapes and designs. Black and red are often combined to create striking colour schemes which give the clothing a very bold appearance. However, other colours can be chosen to create a more subtle style of clothing, so a pink Bauhaus jacket is far more appealing than a lime green one. As well as bright colours, the trend incorporates a lot of patterns and textures on the clothing, with most pieces being made with a double stitching technique called “warehouse stitching”.
Although many people associate Bauhaus clothing with the wealthy and privileged, it is also possible to acquire pieces of this clothing for a low cost. Common types of clothing include jackets, shirts, blouses, trousers and jeans, each of these made from highly durable materials such as rayon, cotton and velvet. Even though most clothing items made by this style have a high price tag attached to them, the popularity of this style of clothing means that Bauhaus clothing can be bought by the everyday person who wants to look fashionable without breaking the bank.
