The 1980’s Fashion Trends
The 1980s are considered to be one of the fashionable decades in history for women, and the style for women’s fashion was no different. For clothing designers, the time was ripe in order to introduce new fashion trends that were bold and new. This was especially true when it came to clothing styles that were in vogue at that time. The fashion for women of this decade, which can be called the “V-ait”, was quite revolutionary and helped to increase the sense of fashion among a greater number of people.
The women’s fashion trends for this decade were characterized by off-shoulder tops, which were accompanied by empire waist dresses, full skirts which were accompanied by high boots, tube skirts, and fitted bodices. A lot of emphasis was also laid on asymmetric designs which were later to become the basis for much of the fashion designing of the seventies and the eighties. However, as the decade wore on, other elements from the fashion started to take prominence. The off-shoulder neckline became very popular along with well fitted full skirts.
As with any other fashion trend, the fashion for women of this time had undergone a few changes over time, which eventually led to some fashion disasters. However, there was no denying the fact that this fashion had brought about major changes in the way women looked. The asymmetric cuts, which had been popularized in the seventies were still in vogue and helped to shape the personality of the modern woman. Fashion trends of the eighties saw many of these trends come into fashion, and they included the baby doll look, fish tail, and the pencil skirt.
