Sylvie Oliveira, a Brazilian who said she was born a male, and who lives with her lesbian partner and was once called a ‘girl trapped in a boy’s body.’ I was so happy when I came out to my family and friends.

‘I was very, very happy! And in fact, on New Year’s day I came out to my boss and he said, ‘I can’t believe you did that, it’s too late now’, but it helped me to come to terms with it, and I’m so glad I did,’ she told the Telegraph.

Doctors did not fully understand the nature of the surgery but Ms Green was told she would have a penis and breasts, but no sex organs.

She was also told that she would need hormone treatment and surgery on her hips and stomach for a week before she was legally recognised as transgender.
