Socks represent fashion. They’re what give you the look of comfort, enjoyment, openness and fun. It can be tough to choose the perfect pair for yourself – but selecting the proper one for someone else is as easy as looking at their sock drawer! The three primary considerations when it comes to choosing socks for others are sock material, sock length and sock colour. When you’re trying to select a great gift for somebody you care about, take some time to familiarize yourself with their individual fashion preferences.
If the gift recipient favors smooth, silky, fuzzy or a combination of different materials, you’ll want to consider what their personal preferences are. You can go with smooth, but delicate flannels or luxurious cashmere, or you can go with something rougher, with more bulk. If possible, slipping a foot into his sock drawer can give you a pretty good idea of where his tastes lie across these three factors. Different materials have different feel comfortable towards different lengths, and so you might have to try a few on to get a good idea which length feels best.
Different sock lengths can mean different things, too. Longer socks tend to feel better for taller people, because long legs create less length to carry around. Shorter socks, on the other hand, can feel better on shorter people because they make them look longer. You can also find ankle socks (just above the ankle, like a pair of sweatpants) which can be worn with just about any outfit – especially if your gift recipient is athletic.
