Shobha Lima (1-0), 5-9

The former featherweight champion came up short against Alexis Dufresne in their UFC debut, but she remains an outstanding talent who should fight for the title at 135 pounds. The former world lightweight champion is still going to be a force, but Lima won just about every round in their fight.

Lyoto Machida (2-1), 0-1

Machida was an impressive two-time champion of the UFC, but he’s been inactive since stepping in the cage. MMAjunkie has ranked him at No. 17 for the first time this year.

Vitor Belfort (8-1), 6-1

The longtime middleweight champion has been a constant draw over the past few years, but he’s done nothing to earn a title shot. He may have a chance against Chris Weidman now, but we’ll have to see if it’s worth the money to pay for a middleweight title shot.

Mitch Clarke (2-1), 0-2

The 29-year-old was a decent lightweight, but he doesn’t have any wins or losses to show.

Thiago Alves (10-2), 1-1

Likely a late first-round replacement for Anderson Silva, Alves is a great heavyweight who has done a great job as an elite standup fighter, but will have to live up to his championship credentials if he wants a shot at the middleweight title.

Dong Hyun Kim (5-0), 0-2

The former middleweight champion is still a very talented fighter, but he hasn’t accomplished anything yet. He’s the only one of the top three to fall to the middleweight division.

Felipe (Manny) Diaz (28-7), 2-2

The veteran was a two-division champion before he quit the sport. He’s the only fighter to have won UFC titles in the same weight class. Diaz went to title rounds with Luke Rockhold and will likely be looking for a title shot.

Mitch Gagnon (4-3), 0-4

The former welterweight champion was a bit of a surprise early on, but he’s looked awful since. He doesn’t look like a championship-caliber fighter and is the most recent addition to the UFC’s shortlist of potential title hop
