Seven Ways to Enjoy the Edgy Days of the seventies
The seventies fashion trends were considered very eccentric by many in their time; today, they are considered classic. The first signs of the seventies fashion trends in fashion were evident on women’s street dresses that were made less bulky, with looser fit, bold print designs and faded colors. These fashions have become popular among women seeking to be edgy, special and different from everyone else.
The “free flowing” fashion of the seventies has once again re-appearing in various women’s apparel shops, this time with updated, trendy, modernized styles. The seventies were a decade when many women rebelled against tradition and their staid, formal styles reflected that. As time moved on, designers incorporated more feminine styles into their fashion lines and the “sexy little black dress” emerged as one of the most popular fashion statements of the period. This edgy fashion design was originally created by the hip-hop artists and it’s still popular today. This edgy style was heavily influenced by the Bob Marley and The Wailers.
The second popular trend was to wear the “skirts of summer”, which were either patterned after the short- skirts worn by models in the modeling magazines of the late seventies or printed with patterns of flowers, butterflies and hearts. These skirts were embellished with ruffles and beads to make them look festive. Another edgy fashion trend for the decade was the “school girl uniform” of ponchos, shorts, skirts and tops that were either pleated, silk and satin or casual. With so many different styles available, there was a great need to accommodate a wider variety of women to fulfill the demand for these edgy fashion trends.
