No matter who you are or where you live, princesses, duchesses, and queens tend to bring a special charm and perk our interests to take notice of what they wear. They often set the fashion tone that reaches far beyond their kingdoms and influences style around the world. From Kate Middleton to Meghan Markle or Queen Letizia of Spain, royals are stepping away from the traditional dress and skirts in exchange for some stunning pantsuits.
For Meghan Markle, it is no surprise to see her donning a stylish pantsuit. After all, she is no stranger to the spotlight and knows how to pull off any outfit that looks great in pictures. She entered the royal stage wearing cropped pants and has only progressed from there. She is quite often seen wearing a pantsuit, whether it be carefully tailored and close-fitting or elegantly flowing evening wear in all black.
Queen Letizia of Spain gave a speech while donning a bold, red pants outfit and has recently pulled off a sleek tailored pantsuit. She even once spruced it up a bit while showing off her own sense of style by accenting the suit with feathers on the sleeves.
Princess Sofia of Sweden won’t be left out of this comfortable yet powerful trend. She walked out in a pantsuit topped with a black-trimmed yellow jacket. Meanwhile, Princess Victoria of Sweden was also seen wearing a pantsuit. Hers made a powerful statement in neutral plaid accented with a touch of femininity at the neckline with a pussy bow.
Princess Mary of Denmark wore an all white outfit when she visited Korea looking especially stunning with the flouncy pants accented by neural heels. In contrast to Princess Mary’s white is perhaps Princess Charlene of Monaco’s black ensemble with a large bow and black and white long plaid jacket that really made a statement.
Perhaps the most surprising royal to be seen wearing a pantsuit is Kate Middleton. She has become known for gracing her husband’s side wearing A-line skirts and traditional flared dresses. Recently, however, even Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, has been pulling off the pantsuit look.
While the trend may be strikingly new, going against all royal tradition, it may surprise you to know that it has been done before. In 1994, the late Princess Diana was pictured leaving a hospital visit wearing not only a black pantsuit but a long necktie as well.
