Sandra Maurel – Career Highlights

Sandra Maurel had been a Nationality and yet had been a Professional chef for the past twenty years. She had also studied the art of Chinese cuisine. When she met Richard Besser, he told her that he was a Chinese American and asked her to be his partner in business. She asked him if there was anything they needed to do to complete the partnership, but he said “No”. The only thing they needed to do was to complete their Degrees from the same University: Boston University.

Sandra’s career path took her to various European and American Universities before she settled down with Richard Besser who is a Chinese American and grew up in Los Angeles. She then pursued her degree in International Relations at MA in International Business and opened her own Restaurant named Maurel’s Restaurant & Chop House located on 47th Street in New York City. This restaurant earned her a reputation as one of the top Chinese restaurants in New York City. She then decided to write a novel about her experiences in the restaurant industry entitled “Chinese Confessions” and this novel made a huge success and earned her the National Book Award for Non-Fiction.

From the time she graduated from Boston University she has carved out her own niche as an entrepreneur and has launched her own production company specializing in Foodservices and Rehabilitation. She has even authored her own cookbook entitled “Sandra’s Secrets”, which has gained much popularity. Her work in this field has given her a wide base of knowledge about nutrition and food service management and how to best serve Asian and non-Asian communities. Her resume is quite impressive having set several industry milestones and she is fast becoming recognized as an expert in this field.
