Dynamo Kiev announced on Monday that the club will be ending a 23 year partnership of the Russian football federation that came to an end on August 16.

The club will use the funds from their sale to buy a new manager, whose future is unclear, and for the next season will be sponsored by Ukrainian football association.

According to the club’s press conference, their director general, Dmitriy Lukyanenko, said the decision had had been taken “after serious consideration by all concerned institutions that Dynamo Kiev needs a change at some point, either in or after the season, at the least, and that it was necessary to consider the possibilities of replacing the manager with someone who could give a new impetus to the team.”

Lukay Yordanov, the former vice president of the association, did not deny that the federation’s money was being used to buy a new managerial position. For this year he is being replaced by “a man with considerable football experience who has the confidence of the club’s directors”.

Rafa Benitez is reportedly out of contract and in the search for new targets.

Meanwhile, Dynamo CEO Oleh Seriy Yanev suggested that the club would be interested in signing former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola for €200 million, and cited that a loan of €55 million might be sufficient.
