Ronald Alves’s return to FC Barcelona on Saturday would be a major coup for the Catalans with the Uruguayan forward on the brink of signing what would be a stunning move to the Camp Nou.
While Manchester United are still to make their decision on the striker’s future, a €16 million move for Costa Rica’s Oscar would represent an ideal scenario for the Blaugrana with the 30-year-old keen to play for Guardiola this season.
Bayern Munich are also rumoured to be lining up a move for the Uruguay international on Saturday but the Bavarians can only afford to pay a one-off fee for the Brazilian as they cannot offer the player a long-term deal without paying for several years worth of services.
Barcelona’s desire to sign a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez was well-publicised last summer as he was the last of the club’s great talents, having signed for a world-record £75 million fee almost a decade ago. But as well as the player, Neymar, there is another player who is also highly-marked by the club – Lionel Messi.
Even if that player is to sign a new contract this summer it is unlikely Barcelona will let Suarez go for anything less than €25 million as he is considered Barca’s golden boy who has scored 60 league goal in his four seasons in the Camp Nou.
The club’s priority this summer is a new No.10 and a midfielder and, given the injury crisis it is estimated Messi has been suffering with recently, the chance to lure one of the world’s best players to the Camp Nou is a rare success as it comes so soon after his move to Real Madrid was publicly announced.
