Adriana Trigiani, also known as Adriana Triggiano, an Italian-born American best-selling writer of eighteen novels, award-winning screenwriter, writer/ Producer, and director/actor, residing in New York City. Adriana Trigiani was born in Leningrad, where her family lived. She earned a degree in mathematics at University College, University of Rome, Italy, and worked as an aerospace engineer during the Cold War. Later, she pursued writing full time, writing several books that were commercial, including “The Best Things In Life Are Free”, “Broadway: The Movie”, and “Scorpion”, as well as several works of fiction. She then wrote her first non-fiction book, “Italianamericana”, a bio of Italian immigrants to New York City, which was made into a motion picture of the same name.
Adriana Trigiani’s novels, plays, screenplays, and short stories have been featured in some of the most prominent publishing houses in the United States and throughout the World. Her work has been made into movies, musicals, television shows, and even video games. Adriana Trigiani was born in Brooklyn, New York City, the daughter of Italian parents who emigrated to the U.S. Her first novel, “La Cosa Nostra” was published in 1970 and went straight to number one on the best-seller’s list, followed by “The Best Things in Life Are Free”.
Directed by Tony Robbins, the film adaptation of “La Cosa Nostra” went on to become one of the highest grossing independent films of all-time. Based on the true events that happened within the Italian Mafia family known as the Triads, the film follows the daily life of five Italian American immigrants to New York City at the height of the mafia war. The late Donnie Wahlberg played the role of Donnie Wahlberg, while Jennifer Aniston and Jeff Daniels provided the lead roles of Maria and Anthony. Adriana Trigiani was then cast as Mom, serving as a love interest for Tony Robbins’ character, while Laura Linney provided the role of sister Sofia.
