Red Fashion Trend 2021

The “Red Fashion Trend” that is dominating the fashion industry for the last three decades, the 21st century has not been shy to show us what’s new and exciting in fashion, especially when it comes to men. For those who are unaware, the “Red Trend” as it is often called, includes vibrant colors and loud patterns in fabrics like; Sateen, velvet, chiffon, silk, satin, crepe, nettle, taffeta, Georgette, and sheer fabrics that are often times combined to create bold statements, eye-catching details and luxurious flair. Some of the most popular garments that are seen on the red runway during Fashion Weeks include: the V-neck, the zip-front shirt, the stripped shirt, the asymmetric neckline, the oversized shirt with a belt and the asymmetric hemline. Each of these garments and more have become modern classics that we have come to recognize as iconic.

A close relative of the “Red Trend,” the “Cherry Red,” is the color that has a warm, almost fruity undertone. This warm color trend is often found in fall, winter, and spring fashions that tend to feature dark neutral tones like beige, chocolate brown, black and grey, and camel. Fashion designers and manufacturers that are creating this style include: Christina Perrin, John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Dolce & Gabbana. The trend can also be found in accessories including scarves, blazers, hats, scarves, shrugs, belts, and jackets. This year, the number of additions to the fall collection that feature this color include sweaters, cardigans, blazers, cardigans, and coats in a wide variety of textures and colors.

The “Sailor” color is derived from the combination of two shades of red, one being the traditionally “red” of ripe red roses and the other, the more recent shade “golden red” of an ethereal shade of rose. Fashion designers and manufacturers that are featured in this color trend include: Anne Hathaway, Christian Dior, John Galliano, and Yves Saint Laurent. Interestingly enough, many of the designers and manufacturers that are making sailor suits and other types of red fashion items are those who are from the Mediterranean, or who are from France or Spain. The history of this color trend traces its roots back to the 16th Century when this hue was used by Spanish sailors to decorate their galleys.
