Raul Malik said the government should review the status quo on such matters. He also warned that the BJP government is “failing in its duty” to ensure the safety of the students.

“It was the government of former NDA government which set up the school premises to train students during the tenure of UPA… It is the government of NDA government now that is failing in this task by continuing the practice of leaving the campus empty. This is leading to students getting injured,” said Malik.

“We will work under the principle that students cannot fall prey to such practices, especially when it goes to their school,” said M Suresh Gokhale, president, Bharatiya Kisan Sangharshak Sangh (BKS).

A similar incident occurred in Ghaziabad in October 2012, when a student was killed. The incident came under the scanner as the school was being used for anti-government activities of the BJP.

Students were injured after police fired rubber bullets in the air before barging the school and detaining students. The school was vacated by UPA government after a month of protests by the students and has been under the BJP’s watch.

In a statement to PTI, BKS claimed that they are being manipulated by the BJP and that the government should take any action in the light of the reports regarding the death of one of their people. The students also said that the administration is yet to respond to their appeals over the security of the students.
