The incident happened within about 2 and a half hours of an incident reported at a bus stop in the area. A group of eight to 10 people surrounded two girls and tried to rob them, authorities said.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. on the 200 block of West 13th Street in Northwest Austin.

Police arrested a 20-year-old Travis County man later identified as Emmanuel Yolanda Jones.

Yolanda Jones made his first appearance in the Travis County jail on Tuesday afternoon. Prosecutors requested that he be held on no bail. There was no word on what charges he may face in connection with the assault.

The victim suffered a punctured lung, a broken scrotum, and other injuries, the victim’s aunt, Angela Yolanda, told KSAT 13.
