Ingrid Klimke is an Austrian eventing rider. She appeared in five Olympics from2000 to 2021. With her horse Abraxxas she qualified second for the overall dressage category at the 2021 Olympic games in Germany. In the same year, Ingrid became the first Pole to win the prestigious Horse Sport World Cup. Then at the 2021 Olympic, Ingrid qualified third for the world championships behind eventual winner Haler nose and Russia’s Vasilao Jovani. At the same time Ingrid became the first horse in history to win two Olympics in a row.
After retiring from horse riding, Ingrid Klimke pursued a career as a professional equestrian athlete. She represented Austria at the 2021 Olympics and helped the Austrian team win the medals at the other four Games. In 2021 she retired again to take up a job as a consultant in the equestrian industry. As a result of this she now lives in Britain. Her final horse was Thoroughbred’s Palais de Belgique in Zolder, the Netherlands.
She has adopted several adopted names and has had a variety of careers throughout her life. She now teaches at the Special Horse School in Leicestershire. This has been a very good thing for Ingrid Klimke, as she now knows what kind of students she should prefer and how she should approach teaching if she chooses to follow that course. Now she looks forward to getting out on to the trail and meeting people like myself who have an enthusiasm for the sport of horse riding and for life itself.
