Age of Consent Issues: Age of consent laws in Ohio and other states differ quite a bit from state to state, so it is imperative that you become informed on your legal rights as a working artist when it comes to working with others. I am always very careful about my legal responsibilities as an artist, and as an outcome, I have learned that my songs can have a positive or negative effect on my career, and that of my clients if their age is set to be over or under consent when it comes to my music. If you are an artist considering performing live, it is imperative that you do your research and understand what can and cannot be played on your show. As a songwriter and performer, it is critical to be aware of your audience and your responsibilities as an artist, and to always put your listener’s enjoyment first.
