The Olivia Bella family was born on September 29, 1896, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The oldest of four daughters, Olivia married Andrew Bellin on February 24th, 1916, at La Crosse, Wisconsin. Their daughters were: George (nineteen), a civil engineer; Andrew (nineteen), who died of a cerebral hemorrhage; and Charles (1945–). In the family, there is presently only one member older than Olivia, called Belinda, but she is not related to any of the Bellin or Olivia families.
Belinda was born in New York City and became a naturalized American citizen inown Mayflower. Belinda’s father was a carpenter by trade, and his wife, Alice, was a secretary. Alice had two younger sons from a previous marriage; George (b.c. seventeen miles SW of Brooklyn, N.Y.) was the father of six children. His occupation was woodworking and his family had been a large tenanting family.
There are no clear records of the original parents’ nationality or descent, and it is probable that they may have been of French or German descent. It is probable, however, that they were either of Italian or Roman decent. It is possible that their real names came from some Greek word which means “maid.”
