New Fashion Trends in Pakistan

Since its formation in 1994, the Planning Ministry has been supporting the creation of new fashion trends for Pakistan’s teenagers. Although this may seem fairly obvious to many people, many young individuals (especially boys) still do not have a clear idea about what is “in.” This is because the media tends to focus on what is “out there.” When young men and women are exposed to a lot of images of rock stars or supermodels without much context, it can be very difficult to create an impression or define what is new and different. Trends come and go and change with the seasons but there is still a certain level of uniformity among all of them. Since the introduction of the Planning ministry’s initiatives to promote new fashion trends, Pakistan’s teens have been able to gain more access to media that allows them to see what is out there in a much clearer way.

Planning Ministry initiatives support the promotion of new fashion trends from local as well as international creative talents. These efforts include promoting new brands and designs, especially those which are still relatively underground in the country. The designs are typically aimed at teenagers as the target audience, but the overall goal is to provide a platform for creative artists from all walks of life to showcase their work. Some of the designs chosen for the planning ministry’s new fashion trends, which range from traditional and conservative motifs to modern, ethnic-inspired looks, are inspired by Islamic art and architecture. The designs highlight the merging of western and eastern elements in ways that create an inviting environment for the wearer.

There is also a lot of coverage and promotion of new fashion trends in the print media. Local and international fashion brands regularly feature Pakistani-owned and -designed products in their marketing campaigns. This includes clothing, jewelry, accessories, fragrances, footwear, housewares, automobiles, sports equipment, watches, and other accessories. Although Pakistan’s government has not taken full control or ownership of the print media, it has made encouraging statements about new fashion trends and encouraged citizens to buy clothing lines that promote good taste.
