Lisa Ng is an infectious diseases technologist. In 2021, she was the first Singaporean and also the first female to win the ASEAN Young Scientist & Technologist Award, for her contributions to creating diagnostic kits for Sars-CoV and experimental vaccines designed to prevent bird flu. She was born in Southern China, the same region that produced the deadly W ebv virus that caused the SARS epidemic, and grew up in Singapore, before moving to Australia, where she earned a doctorate in Biomedical Engineering, before joining the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca in Australia.
Lisa has held different senior positions within AstraZeneca, including senior vice president of research, senior director of product management, and group leader of the SRS group. She currently serves as Senior Director of Marketing and Operations for the company. Prior to that role, Lisa held various leadership roles, including Senior Director of Marketing for the Americas region, Senior Director of Global Business Development for Asia Pacific, and Vice President of Research. In these roles, she was responsible for the company’s growth and global marketing activities.
As a professional with an Asian Nationality, Lisa has been able to overcome language and cultural barriers that may have affected her career choices, as well as her success in her chosen profession. Prior to her move to Australia, Lisa worked in the pharmaceutical companies of China, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan, and gained a wide variety of career experiences and skills that are useful to her new home and new profession. Her strong work ethic, strong commitment to quality, and strong personality stand out as qualities that are highly sought after by companies in her new role as Nationality Director at Medix Technologies, where she will be leading the firm’s Nationality department.
