Meghan Duggan is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who currently plays for the United States in the 2021 Winter Olympics; she represented the United States in the gold medal game as a senior player. Meghan has also been an assistant coach at the University of Michigan. Her international career started when she was selected by Minnesota in the womens’ national ice hockey championship. She was then selected by the Vancouver Americans as a player/assistant coach before being traded to the United States and playing in the WHL with the Swift River Hawks.
Meghan has been married to Stephenie while still playing professionally. They have three children together, and she is now raising them along with her husband. She has also coached her son in the sport and works with him in the off-ice activities as well as on the ice. Meghan is very close to her family and especially to her sons. When asked what she likes most about being an Olympic athlete, she answered, “Spending time with my boys, seeing new places, meeting new people and getting out on the ice.”
Meghan was born in January of 1992 in Chilliwack, British Columbia and represents the state of Washington in the National Hockey League. Prior to this she was a member of the Alaska Division I National Team and played three seasons for the Seattle Thunderbirds of the WHL. She was named the International Hockey Association Women’s Player of the Year in 2021. Meghan is currently an unrestricted free agent, but is yet to sign an agreement with a club.
