Natasha Pickowicz is a candidate for President of the United States of America, and could possibly be the next President of the United States if her ticket is successful. Her resume lists her age at sixty-four, which would make her a post-presidency age of seventy-three, but the press has reported that she is actually seventy-one. Height is an issue that always comes up in a public-relations career and most commonly in a sex-case or a celebrity prosecution position. The press has also reported that Ms. Pickowicz has used aliases to change her actual age on her resume as a way to hide her height problem from her former spouse.

Height is a problem in our society, and it is a problem that most women will face in their professional lives. It used to be a mark of beauty and virtue to be tall and fit, but these days most people are very fit and very tall. This is one reason that President-elect Obama chose to play the organ in his first national address as President-elect Obama. He cited musicians like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin to confirm his belief, “An ounce of physical confidence is worth a pound of political power.” It was an old wives’ tale about the secret of keeping faith with one’s own self, and it is a lesson that most of us need to learn today.

Height is definitely a consideration when you are applying for a political office, but it should be a secondary issue compared to qualifications, experience, and character that are more important. If you have worked as an organist for five years and you mention that in your application, you think that might set you apart from other candidates, you might find out soon enough that you do not possess the grace, personality, or intelligence necessary for this prestigious position. There are indeed many ways to lie on applications, including exaggerating your education and work experience. However, it is certainly smarter to tell the truth on your resume than to misrepresent yourself to a potential employer. After all, the President-elect of the United States is looking for people to help him lead the country and he does not want to see any unfit individuals in his administration.
