Natasha Wang is an Asian American woman who works as a practicing attorney in the private practice of law. She is also a teacher at Bertholdi High School in San Mateo, California. She was born in Hawaii and raised in San Francisco. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of San Francisco. While at the university, she participated in many national conferences on race and gender, as well as myriad international workshops and seminars on diversity and cultural competence, focusing on issues of nationality, ethnicity, and age.
While still in school, Ms. Wang began to focus on issues of gender and ethnicity, which inspired her personal and academic interests in law. After completing an undergraduate degree in psychology, Natasha moved onto law school, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Law at the University of Michigan. During this time, Natasha became familiar with issues of diversity, which drove her interest in becoming a lawyer. As a law student, she became familiar with the experiences of Asian American legal professionals, specifically attorneys who focus on substantive issues such as employment discrimination, family law, and criminal law. By joining the staff of the San Francisco law firm of Morrison & Burris, where she served as an associate while also completing her undergraduate degree, Ms. Wang was able to gain important experience working with diverse clients and attorneys.
Today, Natasha is pursuing a career in the legal profession. She is very excited about this new development, considering that the legal field is one of the most diverse fields in the country. This profession allows clients with legal challenges from nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds to be heard. Through her personal and leadership development program, Ms. Wang has learned how to communicate effectively with all types of people. These leadership skills will help her succeed in the legal profession.
