The centennial celebration of Nastasha Abigail (or Nastassha as she is sometimes known in Hindi films) will be held from the month of September through November. This is the 100th year that Nastasha and her mother have been celebrating this event in India. It is a time when women across the country are celebrating their Nativity, ancestry, nationality and the greatness of their ancestors. This Nativity Festival in India is a time when children start to learn about their ancestry and where they should begin building their future.
The talented Nastasha Abigail, who has lived her entire life in Mumbai, always wanted to be a part of this celebration. She studied music, but did not pursue it because she felt it did not suit her personality. She instead focused on painting and she was particularly good at it. She started this passion in her late teens and continued it until she was well into her forties. In her paintings she showed a distinct Nastasia type of style that impressed her admirers.
Nastasha was born in a small village called Dharavi, a low-income area in the Mumbai suburbs. She was actually the daughter of a poor landlady who could never leave the home to attend college. However, she decided to continue studying despite the odds and went on to win numerous awards for her work. Today, she runs her own studio in Mumbai. Her work is shown in many galleries and exhibits all over the world.
