“This is what is happening now in the Middle East,” the singer said. “It is the most barbaric culture, the least civilized culture, the most backward culture on earth, where women have no rights, no freedom.”

When asked about her relationship to Beyonce, the singer told the crowd, “I only know her and I know her husband very well… I love Beyonce, I adore her. This is our home but we’re here to raise some money for the families of the children killed by ISIS so they will have a better life.”

Later, at a concert in Miami, her former partner, Kanye West, called her “one of the greatest people I have ever known,” saying, “She’s one of the rare people I’ve worked with since I met her a few years ago. So I’m very grateful to be working with her.”

In another statement before the show, West wrote: “Tonight, I received a copy of the Quran. You see the word peace in it every day, and the best of God’s spirit has blessed me with this opportunity.”

At press time, she had a new verse in her heart to share: “I’m going to put my peace on anyone who has it inside of himself, whoever he is, who’s trying to be what he thinks is perfect, regardless of how imperfect.”
