Maria Fristroman, a Nationality: Italian and German, was born in 1978 in Salzburg, Austria. She had moved to London at the age of twelve with her family to pursue her Education. There she attended the prestigious University of Cambridge, where she pursued a degree in Physics before becoming a lecturer in applied science at University College London. After that she worked as a research scientist for NASA until retirement. Maria’s career then took off when she decided to marry an Italian and live in Italy for the rest of her life.

What does this mean for a Pole looking for an interview at one of the leading professional bodies? It means that you should have the correct qualifications. The problem here is that many Poles in their younger days have completely missed out on learning the skills which are needed to be successful in the job which they wish to have. Maria Fristroman did miss out on international physics qualifications although she did go on to do post graduate studies in Italy but it was only with these qualifications that she was able to come to the attention of the UK astronaut programme which has now sent her on to live in orbit.

What does this mean for Pole looking to set up a career in the same industry as Maria Fristroman? You can forget about it. As a member of the British Nationality your passport will allow you free passage into the country, whereas a Pole with no nationality will find it very difficult indeed to get to work in the UK or anywhere else in Europe for that matter. You can also forget about the possibility of working in China as there are no British nationalities allowed there. However, as regards an Italian speaking country, you will be able to communicate in Italian so long as you know how to use the Italian language.
