Maria Elizondo, an actress from the sixties, is currently being cast for a leading role in the upcoming biopic “The Man Who Played Go” directed by Ridley Scott. She was born in Peru and at the age of thirteen, she is said to have undergone a profound conversion toward Catholicism. However, there are some speculations that her religious conviction may have inspired her appearance in “The Profession”.

Maria Elizondo has been portrayed in many films, but most notably in the film “Liza Minelli: The Secrets of a Woman’s Heart” as the glamorous and mysterious femme fatale. From her appearances in these movies, one could safely say that her acting skill has not waned at all and this is reflected in her resume that lists credits for various theater performances, stage work, and movie roles. Maria Elizondo’s other credits include “The Secret Life of Bees”, “Agua Bendita” and “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street”. However, it should be noted that these roles, while significant, do not reflect on her entire acting repertoire. Her best known films are those wherein she plays an important and powerful character such as in “Manual of Love”, “Nights In Paris” and “Babel”. Some other notable roles that she has included in her filmography include “Papillon”, “The Great Bazaar”, “Au Vida” and “Love Story”.

Maria Elizondo is a woman of nationalities, which gives an interesting edge to her acting as she can play the roles of different nationalities with the same panache and enthusiasm. In her filmography, she displays her knowledge and expertise with Spanish, Italian and French. This was further strengthened when her feature film role as “Annunciation” catapulted her to stardom. Her other notable feature films include “Carmen”, “A Man Called Cowes” and “My Cousin Maria”.
