Having lots of Socks As part of the fundraiser for my local YMCA was fun for us but it also raised some fund raising money too. Having a fundraiser that was fun and also raised funds was a neat twist on an old time fundraiser. We have always done car washes and door to door sales in our community and always sell the same things, like paper products, candles, detergent, gift baskets, toys, and socks. Our group always tried to raise a certain amount of money and the funds from the car washes always topped our other fundraising totals.
This year we are having our fourth year of raising money and hoping to have our third fundraising total for the year, this year we are trying to do something different. So far we have not raised any funds online or through other means. This is one of the things we love about raising money through creative ways to get the word out, we love that we can still wear lots of socks and we also enjoy promoting awareness for something we believe in. This year we want to raise awareness for Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and the three most common causes of death among children with these developmental disabilities. Having a fundraiser like this makes me feel good about the support I receive and the positive reaction from everyone that support me. So, let’s continue to raise awareness for these three important causes and show the world just how much we care about the people and families we serve.
Have lots of socks. You will find yourself walking around with mismatched socks more often than you may think and it is OK because it just adds to the character and uniqueness of your wardrobe. You will also find yourself buying more pairs because you know that they are going to be worn, and not stuffed in the closet just for a time. We wish everyone out there on March 8th to have fun and enjoy the day, and we hope you have a great March 8th.
