Mamadou Aziz is the former Cameroon international who joined Barcelona in July 2015 from Newcastle in a £16 million deal. Born in N’Djamena, he became a regular in the team under Josep Guardiola. He spent a brief period at Manchester City before returning to France.
Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains sidelined and is unlikely to be fit for Saturday’s game with Everton due to a groin injury.
Bartra and Ibrahimovic would both have been the most obvious suspects to join up with the World Cup squad as it stood. But both have been training with the national players’ unit instead.
Bartra, whose former club Deportivo La Coruna were relegated from the Segunda Division last season, has trained with the national team since joining for $2 million from AC Milan and will be included in Brazil’s 22-man squad.
Juan Mata, another of Real Madrid’s top stars, is training with the full national team but has been allowed to train without making a first-team appearance yet this week due to the international break.
But Barca have yet to make a decision on whether they will use the 19-year-old ahead of the Champions League final against Juventus on May 9.
