Magdalena Sahlin, the director of the GED classes, says GED graduates are twice as likely to get jobs in health care as their less advantaged peers.

Sahlin calls on the government to change the way it deals with the issue of student debt.

“We are seeing over $100 billion borrowed by the GED graduates, and that needs to be addressed,” she says.

“There needs to be a fair approach to how student debt is managed. We also need to ensure that students aren’t discriminated against because of their background.”
