1.00 p.m. update: Authorities say two men armed with a gun and one with a machete assaulted a couple in their suburban home Monday morning in an apparent dispute over the house being foreclosed on.

The couple, both in their 50s, was inside their house, across the street from the couple’s house, about 10 a.m. when a couple that lives across the street, heard gunshots about three to four minutes after the attack, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Liza Johnson said.

Neither the couple or their 17-year-old daughter reported seeing anyone with a gun shortly after the shooting.

A woman who lives across the street, who did not want to be named, woke up from sleep after hearing the shots. He heard a noise, looked out of his bedroom window and saw the woman suffering from a wound to the shoulder that didn’t appear to be life-threatening, Johnson said.

He got home and called 911. The couple and their 17-year-old daughter fled the house and called police from a cell phone, police said.

Officers responded and discovered the women had several cuts and scrapes across their arms, the sheriff’s officer said.

At about 4:45 p.m., deputies took two men into custody near a parking lot across from nearby Custer Elementary in Miamisburg, Johnson said. One of them was later identified as a 31-year-old man from Westfield. Police said he was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

A female victim was also treated for injuries sustained during the altercation, Johnson said. Both were taken to the hospital.

One female victim suffered a minor laceration on her shoulder. A second woman was also treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

Neither the man nor his friend were identified as being involved in the dispute, Johnson said.

The suspect in custody was not identified by police, Johnson said.

At this time, authorities did not have any information on the whereabouts of the surviving victims, she said.
